Sandhills Bank has strong connections to the communities we serve.

We originally chartered as The Bank of Bethune in 1959. For two decades, the Bank prospered serving the area around the small town of Bethune, South Carolina.

In 1980, new investors purchased the Bank. Among them was Davis Heniford, Jr., a native of Loris, SC, a small town just off the coast in Horry County. Mr. Heniford liked the bank so much he increased his ownership to a majority share after just a few months.

In 1984, the bank added a branch in neighboring McBee, SC and changed our name to Sandhills Bank, a name reflecting the rolling dunes of the region.

In 2000, the Sandhills Bank Financial Center opened in North Myrtle Beach, SC. We designed the office to be a full-service 'financial mall' housing the Bank branch, plus space for partners offering insurance and investment services.

Sandhills Bank remains committed to serving our customers. Our goal is to demonstrate how a small, family-owned community bank can provide a wide array of financial services to meet virtually any need with a friendly touch. That's why we chose our slogan:
